Gourd Painting Workshop

Come out to Pueblo Grande Museum and spend the afternoon with New Mexican Gourd Artist Arturo Ramirez on Saturday, November 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. to learn the traditional process of cleaning and painting gourds. For thousands of years, people in the Southwest have used gourds both functionally and artistically. This hands-on workshop will take you through the history of gourds and their prominent place in the history of ancient and modern civilizations. On this artistic journey with native New Mexican gourd artist Arturo Ramirez, learn how to prepare a gourd and paint your very own masterpiece! Participants will receive a prepared gourd and will decorate it during the class and take it home after. Registration is available online at pueblogrande.com or in person at the Pueblo Grande Museum Store. Space is limited and restricted to participants ages 16 and older. All supplies are included with class registration, just bring your own creativity! This workshop was made possible through the Pueblo Grande Museum Auxiliary.
