AFFCF Announces New Education Support Initiative

All Day, Aug 15, 2020

As the fall school year rapidly approaches, The Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation (AFFCF), located at 360 East Coronado Road, is pleased to announce its new Recharge… Reconnect… Reward program that serves to support foster youth returning to school.

“Our mission has always been to support foster children and as this new school year approaches, many are more in need of school supplies than ever,” says Kris Jacober, executive director of the Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation. “This program will help ensure these youth have something to look forward to and that their basic educational needs are met.”

The AFFCF asked teachers, professionals and parents what students are in need of most to ensure a great school year — and the non-profit organization is funding these important items through their new Recharge… Reconnect… Reward program. Beginning Monday, August 10, applications for the education support initiative will be available. Individuals that oversee the academic progress of a student in foster care may apply and the following items are available:

• Backpack, $50 limit
• Graphing calculator, $100 limit
• Online learning programs for caregivers and students, $100 limit
• Sensory learning items, $50
• Traditional school supplies (paper, pencils, ruler, etc.), $100
• Workspace (small desk or lap desk), $100
• Technology such as:
Earbuds with microphone, $10
Internet service, $40/month (three-month maximum)
Hotspot, $40 maximum
Laptop/tablet - $175 maximum
Printer, $100

Rewards are reimbursable only, and individuals are asked not to purchase items prior to application approval from the AFFCF. Those with questions regarding this new program may call 602-252-9445. Additional information required to submit an education support award can be found at www.affcf.org.
