Building Spiritual Strength: A Toolkit for Mental Health Professionals and Clergy/Chaplains
Building Spiritual Strength: A Tool Kit for Mental Health Professionals and Clergy/Chaplains is a one-day workshop to provide mental health professionals, clergy, military chaplains, psychologists, social workers, counselors, spiritual directors and deacons the tools needed to bring a Building Spiritual Strength program to veterans in Arizona. This one-day workshop will provide the participant with the tools needed to be a facilitator and be able to implement the BSS program and/or utilize the materials on an individual basis with veterans who are seeking their assistance. Materials will include BSS Facilitator Education Manual for Facilitators, Intervention Manual, Participant Workbook/Manual, Baseline Interview, two published research articles written by presenters and their team. Presenters: J. Irene Harris, Ph.D., L.P. is a clinician-investigator at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System and an associate professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School. Tim J. Usset, MDiv, MA, BCC, LMFT, ACPE, CEO is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ and has worked extensively with moral injury, spiritual distress and post-traumatic stress disorder on numerous research projects and clinical areas within the VA. Funding for this workshop is provided by the Catholic Leadership Circle-Diocese of Phoenix.
