Duet Family Caregiver Virtual Symposium

Wednesday, February 17, 2021, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Duet: Partners In Health & Aging is bringing together for the first time two luminaries in the world of caregiving. Arthur Kleinman, MD, and Pauline Boss, PhD, will share their professional expertise as academicians, clinical practitioners, and authors, as well as relate their personal experiences as caregivers to their beloved spouses. Drawing from his most recent book, The Soul of Care: The Moral Education of a Husband and a Doctor, Dr. Kleinman will share his reflections about caring for his wife, and how the experience transformed his thinking about our medical system and the need to put those who give care at its center. Dr. Boss will share concepts from her upcoming book, Ambiguous Loss in a Time of Pandemic: The Myth of Closure, as to how new ambiguous losses have been compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic and how family caregivers can cope and stay resilient. She will share techniques for successfully navigating the journey. After both speakers present, KJZZ reporter Kathy Ritchie will moderate a question-and-answer session.
