Based on the Buck Institute's Gold Standard for PBL, we are honored to be offering PBL 101, PBL 201, and PBL Instructional Coaching workshop (for Administrators and Instructional Coaches). He also teaches his popular MBA/EMBA elective Leadership Through Fiction. His newest book, Win or Die: Leadership Secrets from Game of Thrones will be published by Thomas Dunne Books, an imprint of St. Martin’s Press, in March 2019. He studied politics and literature at the University of California at Santa Cruz and has an MFA in writing from Columbia University. He lives with his wife and two sons in the Coachella Valley in California. Buy his book! https://us.macmillan.com/books/9781250301185 Introduction to PBL: PBL 101 Training Based on the Buck Institute for Education's model for Gold Standard PBL, the three-day PBL 101 Workshop engages participants who teach any and all subjects, PK-12, in learning how to design, assess, and manage a rigorous, relevant, standards-focused project. The workshop models the project process. Facilitated by one of BIE's expert National Faculty, the workshop is a balanced blend of direct instruction, video analysis, hands-on work, resource sharing, and peer collaboration. Participants have substantial time to plan their own project and receive formative feedback from peers and the facilitator. *No pre-requisite to register. Building a Learner-Centered Classroom: PBL 201 - SOLD OUT! In this active and participatory learning experience, educators will learn strategies for increasing the engagement and empowerment of all students in the PBL classroom. Experienced PBL educators who attend this workshop will learn to skillfully plan for student choice throughout a project and to use management structures that place student learning at the center. They will reflect on the use of peer feedback as a tool for student empowerment and distributed expertise in the classroom. Workshop attendees will apply the practices they learn to the development of a high-quality standards-aligned project and a plan for learner-centered project implementation in their classrooms. Leading Others in PBL Work: PBL Instructional Coaching Workshop Now available as a three-day workshop, the PBL Coaching Workshop provides instructional coaches and leaders with the knowledge and skills to support teachers in project implementation. The workshop will focus on strategies coaches can use to support and enable high-quality PBL implementation.
