Protecting Places of Worship: An InfraGard San Diego Faith-Based Sector Event

PROTECTING PLACES OF WORSHIP: AN INFRAGARD SAN DIEGO FAITH-BASED SECTOR EVENT   8 - 8:30 a.m. Registration | 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. Program 11:45 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. Free Cal OES Nonprofit Grant Workshop Co-hosted by the Office of the U.S. Attorney, FBI San Diego, San Diego Law Enforcement Coordination Center and City of San Diego Office of Homeland Security Protecting Places of Worship will feature highly informative presentations designed to provide faith-based venues with an understanding of the threat landscape, security best practices and resources. The program will begin with an analytical case study of the most consequential mass shootings at faith-based venues in modern history: the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh; First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs; and Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston. The review will explore threat indicators and incident metrics that may have identified preventable causes. Two panel discussions will follow, featuring security leaders from faith-based venues and law enforcement/government representatives. The program will conclude with an optional free grant workshop presented by Cal OES.
