VIN Etching Free Event

The Yuma Police Department has partnered with the AZ DPS RATTLER Task Force, Arizona Automobile Theft Authority, and Target to host a FREE VIN Etching Event. The event will take place on Friday, March 8^th, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the Target parking lot, located at 1450 Yuma Palms PKWY. The vehicle owner will need to show proof of registration and will be required to complete a consent form.

Etching your vehicle’s VIN number is an effective visual deterrent against auto theft and takes less than 10 minutes per vehicle to complete. When a vehicle is stolen, the thief must change the identity of the vehicle by changing the VIN identification plate on the dashboard. With a vehicle that has its window glass VIN etched, the thief must replace and dispose of each piece of window glass, which drastically cuts into their profit margin. As a thief contemplates stealing your vehicle, there is a high probability they will notice the etching on the glass and may move on to an unmarked vehicle. Reducing the chances of you becoming a victim of a crime.
