DESCRIPTION:The Yuma Police Department will be hosting a Child Seat Check-Up Event. The event will take place on Saturday\, September 23\, 2023\, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.\, in the Yuma Police Department’s parking lot\, 1500 South 1st Avenue. \nDuring the event\, certified child passenger safety technicians will inspect vehicle child seats for proper installation and use. Please bring your child\, car seat\, seat instructions\, and vehicle owner’s manual to the event. \nProperly installed child seats maximize the child’s protection in the event of a crash. \nThe following information is provided by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration\, NHTSA. \n Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 1 through 12 years old.1 \n • According to a NHTSA study\, 3 out of 4 kids are not as secure in the car as they should be because their car seats are not being used correctly. \n 1 Source: Based on the latest mortality data currently available from the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics.     \n BUCKLE UP YUMA…NO EXCUSES
