The City of El Centro\, Imperial Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce\, and Los Vigilantes invite you to join us for Mardi Gras 2024 festivities! \nThis year\, the City will work collaboratively to provide various entertainment for the community. \n“This is the perfect event to kick off the New Year. It includes a light parade\, dazzling decorations\, amazing costumes\, street fair and a King and Queen\,” said City of El Centro Mayor Sylvia Marroquin. “It’s another great event that our local families can enjoy.” \nMardi Gras Light Parade & Street Festival\nThe Light Parade and Street Festival will be held on February 24\, 2024\, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Street Festival will begin at 5 p.m.\, and the Light Parade will start at 6 p.m. \nThe parade route will begin at Eight Street and Wensley Avenue and end at 11th and Main streets. DESCRIPTION:The California Mid-Winter Fair 2024 is back with a fun theme called\, ‘Red\, White\, and Moo.’ \n\n\n\nThe fair will be open for 10 days from Friday\, March 1 to Sunday\, March 10. \n\n\n\nEnergy Source Minerals\, leading development of a premier lithium project near the Salton Sea\, is the presenting sponsor of the fair this year. \n\n\n\nLocal businesses and organizations are also sponsoring the fair. \n\n\n\nThe California Mid-Winter Fair is proud to announce its traditional activities such as: \n\n\n\n\nHigh School Madness\n\n\n\nGrounds acts\n\n\n\nConcerts\n\n\n\nTraditional junior livestock show and auction\n\n\n\nSeries of dirt track events sponsored by the Heritage Foundation. Including the popular Heritage 500 on the final day of the fair.\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nTicket information\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nAdmission tickets and carnival wristbands are available for sale at ivfairgrounds.com/2024-tickets. \n\n\n\nPresale admission tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children and seniors. \n\n\n\nFor tickets bought after February 29\, it will be full price which will be $10 for adults and $8 for children and seniors. \n\n\n\nCarnival presale wristbands are $35. \n\n\n\nTickets will also be available at the gates. \n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nNew events\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nThe California Mid-Winter Fair said there are new additions to the event such as ‘Twisted Tuesday’ on March 5. \n\n\n\n‘Twisted Tuesday’ will provide admission to the fair and unlimited carnival rides\, all for $20 per person. Tickets will also be sold online and at the gate for that price\, regardless the age. \n\n\n\nThe fair said guests must have a ‘Twisted Tuesday’ ticket to be admitted to the fair on March 5 and no other tickets will be accepted. \n\n\n\nAnother new event is the Mini-Mural Art Project where different local artists (one each day of the fair) will be painting a fair-related mural on stage in the Preble Building. \n\n\n\nLocal artists will each have eight hours to finish their artwork which will be shown at this year’s fair and for future fairs. \n\n\n\nThey also mentioned the full Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Team\, including pilots and support crew\, will be attending the fair at 7 p.m. on March 7 at the Mechanics Bank Stage for a public meet and greet. \n\n\n\nThe Flight Demonstration Team opens its 2024 season after it concludes its three-month Valley training season with an air show on March 9 at the Naval Air Facility\, said the fair. \n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nAnimal events and information\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nThe California Mid-Winter Fair will also feature about 1\,300 animal exhibits ranging from the 15 Junior Breeding Boar Goats to several hundred Market Sheep\, Market Swine\, Feeder Calves\, and Steers. \n\n\n\nIn the Junior Poultry exhibits\, there will be 37 Market Turkeys in a show that will make a return after a lengthy absence. \n\n\n\nThe judging and showmanship events begin on the first day of the fair with rabbits\, cavies\, and poultry competition\, as well as dogs\, Junior Horse\, Pygmy Goats\, and Junior Dairy Goats. \n\n\n\nThere will also be judging of Junior Market Livestock including Market Beef\, Steer\, Goat\, Feeder Calves\, Sheep\, and Swine. \n\n\n\nWhile the Parade of Champions for all Junior and Future Farmers of America Champions and Reserve Champions will be at 6 p.m. on March 3 in the Swine Ring. \n\n\n\n4-H and Grange members will be competing for the top market and showmanship prizes\, including Round Robin Showmanship where they display their expertise in showing various types of animals. \n\n\n\nFirst and second-place exhibitors in various categories become eligible to compete in the Round Robin competition. \n\n\n\nThe fair said the 4-H Larger Animal Round Robin will be at 6 p.m. on March 5 and the FFA Large Animals will compete at 6 p.m. on March 6. DESCRIPTION:72nd Annual Yuma County Fair\nApril 2 – 7\, 2024\nYes!  Can you believe it’s almost time for our Annual Fair?!  We know it’s a bit early to talk about it but time just flies when you’re having fun! \nThe 72nd Annual Yuma County Fair is scheduled for April 2nd – April 7th\, 2024\, we couldn’t be more excited to host another amazing fair!  We have so much entertainment planned for you that you’ll want to visit us all week\, and we want you to visit us all week.  We are one of the few fairs that offers daily entertainment\, that’s right\, daily.  We are bringing back some remarkable local talent as well as some new bands – the main stage entertainment starts from the time we open until we close our doors\, or should I say gates? \nKeep reading for more information… \nStrolling acts is a must-have at any county fair and we have an incredible lineup for you\, your friends and family to enjoy as you take a stroll throughout our beautiful fairgrounds.  Yes!  Let’s not forget about Guido’s Family stage\, also packed with family-friendly entertainment through-out the day. \nRemember to visit the Theatre and Commercial Buildings\, both filled with great commercial and food vendors\, plus performances\, demonstrations\, juggling in the Theatre building throughout the day.  We are not done with all of our entertainment just yet – don’t forget to visit the daily productions between the 4-H and FFA buildings. \nFood\, drinks\, souvenirs and let’s not forget about the carnival!!   Yay\, the thrill of speed and the memories you will make with your friends and family. \nThat’s not all folks—don’t forget about the Junior Livestock Shows (daily\, starting at 8am)\, 4H and FFA projects in the 4-H & FFA buildings (displayed daily)\, come out and support our local youth as they display their incredible skills with photography\, home economics\, clothing and textiles\, school enrichment\, outreach projects and much more. \nOpen entries – if you’re someone who has some artistic\, floral\, cooking\, sowing or baking expertise\, we would love to see it!  This is for all ages\, young or older…  Display your work at the 72nd Annual Yuma County Fair – horticulture\, floriculture\, beverages\, food\, arts\, crafts\, hobbies\, art\, photography and so much more!  You may start registering online on Monday\, January 8\, 2024…it’s FREE\, that’s right it will cost you nothing\, zero\, nada to register and display your work! \nThe 2024 Premium Book is now available! \nHere’s the 2024 Spring Fair schedule: \nTuesday – Gates open at 3 PM until closing \nWednesday – 12 PM until closing \n\nDemolition Derby at 7pm – grab your seat early\, it’s gonna be great…\n\nThursday – 12 PM until closing NO BUDDY DAY this year. \nFriday – 12 PM until closing \nSaturday – 12 PM until closing \nSunday – 12 PM until closing \nEntrance Fee: \n$7.00 – 13 years+ \n$5.00 – 6-12 years of age \nFREE – 5 and under
