SUMMARY:IID Public Workshops
DESCRIPTION:The Imperial Irrigation District has scheduled several public informational workshops in the Imperial and Coachella Valleys in February to help inform its energy customers about positive changes they will see to their energy bills in 2024. \nTopics include changes to the energy bill structure (ECA billing costs) and how it will help lower summer bills\, updated information on IID’s Average Bill Payment Plan and Residential Energy Assistance Program (REAP)\, as well as some helpful tips to read your energy bill. \n“Some very important\, positive changes are in the works for 2024\,” said IID General Manager Jamie Asbury. “The district is working hard to make these changes and\, through the public workshops\, we hope to be able to connect with more customers\, sharing helpful information.” \nAmong the most significant changes is the implementation of a more predictable billing model for customers in 2024. In an effort to help shield consumers from spiking summer energy bills\, the IID Board of Directors moved to reform the monthly ECA\, leveling these charges throughout 2024. As an additional way to mitigate billing spikes\, the district is also in the process of transitioning nearly 12\,000 customers enrolled in REAP to the Average Bill Payment Plan. \nPresentations will be given in English and Spanish. Except where noted\, all public workshops begin at 4 p.m. \n\nTuesday\, February 20 – Fernando “Nene” Torres Council Chambers\, 608 Heber Avenue\, Calexico. (3:30 p.m. start time).\nWednesday\, February 21 – William R. Condit Auditorium\, 1285 Broadway\, El Centro. (Available by livestream and playback at www.iid.com).\nThursday\, February 22 – Hidalgo Hall\, 410 S. Cesar Chavez Street\, Brawley.\nMonday\, February 26 – Mecca Community Center\, 65-250 Coahuilla Street\, Mecca. (5 p.m. start time).\nTuesday\, February 27 – IID Boardroom\, 81600 Ave. 58\, La Quinta. (Available by livestream and playback over www.iid.com).\nThursday\, February 29 – Indio Senior Center\, 45700 Aladdin Street\, Indio.

SUMMARY:2024 Love Night
DESCRIPTION:  \nEvery year we host an event called Love Night where we raise money and donate it to a deserving cause or someone in need from the community. This year the money will go to Ruben Gonzalez (58). About 5 years ago he was given a choice whether to adopt or give his twin grandkids to a foster home due to the mom being unable to take care of them. He decided to adopt them and have been living with him since then. One of the twins is being diagnosed due to a physical problem he suffers from and is currently attending several doctor appointments. 1 year after adopting the twins he had to make another difficult decision of adopting a 3rd child. Now he has two 8 year olds and one 4 year old living with him in a small trailer in Somerton\, AZ. He has a chronic lumbar condition and he is unable to work. He only lives off the little help he gets from programs available and whatever hand outs family can afford to give. All the kids’ clothes are also hand me downs from family or stuff he can afford from garage sales\, swap meets or goodwill. Giving the money to Ruben could help better feed the kids\, help him buy clothes for school\, pay living expenses and other things the kids might need. \n\n\n We would like to invite you to our very special event on February 22nd in support.
