Ave 8E.A campus map can be found here. \nWHY: Join Arizona Western College as we officially break ground on the new Law Enforcement Training Academy. The project will centralize training for LETA cadets from across the state in a purpose-built facility housed on the AWC Yuma Campus. The over 20\,000-square-foot building will be adaptable to accommodate high industry demand\, increase training capabilities\, and expand cadet capacity at AWC. \nThe project was funded through $7.5 million from former Gov. Doug Ducey to bolster law enforcement training and $2.7 million in AWC funds. Construction is expected to be complete by Fall 2024.“Since the inception of the AWC Law Enforcement Training Academy\, the program has grown exponentially. It is no longer just a local training program and center\, but has expanded to become a high-demand regional training center. This new facility will be used for years to come to train our law enforcement officers to best serve our communities\,” said Alfonso Zavala\, AWC Law Enforcement Training Academy Director.Reetika Dhawan\, AWC Entrepreneurial College Chief Executive Officer and Vice President of Workforce & Healthcare\, added\, “The new LETA building illuminates a radiant ray of opportunity for our community. We will also be recognizing scholarship recipients and the generosity of donors who have made those opportunities possible. DESCRIPTION:For the first time ever in the U.S.\, the UK’s very own punk rock group TV Smith’s THE ADVERTS \, live at the Red Moon Ale House in Yuma\, AZ!! Doors 8pm\, all ages\, ADV $15 with guests The Shadow plus more TBA. \nWith their raw\, enthusiastic immaturity\, the Adverts were a bright\, though short-lived\, light of the punk era\, distinguished by the fact that their bassist\, Gaye Advert\, was one of the first female stars of punk rock. After they (barely) mastered one chord\, the Adverts began playing at London’s Roxy Club in 1976\, where they quickly came to the attention of the Damned’s guitarist Brian James. James offered the band an opening spot on the Damned’s tour and directed them toward Stiff Records. Stiff released their self-deprecating debut single\, “One Chord Wonders\,” in 1977\, when the band could still barely play\, but when they released their second single\, the disturbingly funny “Gary Gilmore’s Eyes\,” the group rocketed into the U.K. Top 20 in a storm of controversy.
