The participating restaurants are: The Pint House Bar and Grill\, Dog Haus Yuma\, Eduardo’s Mexican Food & Cantina\, and Prison Hill Brewing Company.\nDuring the week\, anyone visiting these restaurants can order the particular burger they’ve chosen for Burger Days. Every time that burger is ordered\, the restaurant will donate $2 back to Hunter’s Army!!!\n(Hunter’s Army is a local nonprofit that comes alongside and supports families who have a childhood cancer patient in their home. DESCRIPTION:Groundbreaking ceremony to be held for Law Enforcement Training Academy   \nWHEN: Thursday\, October 5\, 2023 at 9:00am  \nWHERE: Next to the Public Safety Institute (PSI) at the Arizona Western College Yuma Campus\, 2020 S. Ave 8E.A campus map can be found here. \nWHY: Join Arizona Western College as we officially break ground on the new Law Enforcement Training Academy. The project will centralize training for LETA cadets from across the state in a purpose-built facility housed on the AWC Yuma Campus. The over 20\,000-square-foot building will be adaptable to accommodate high industry demand\, increase training capabilities\, and expand cadet capacity at AWC. \nThe project was funded through $7.5 million from former Gov. Doug Ducey to bolster law enforcement training and $2.7 million in AWC funds. Construction is expected to be complete by Fall 2024.“Since the inception of the AWC Law Enforcement Training Academy\, the program has grown exponentially. It is no longer just a local training program and center\, but has expanded to become a high-demand regional training center. This new facility will be used for years to come to train our law enforcement officers to best serve our communities\,” said Alfonso Zavala\, AWC Law Enforcement Training Academy Director.Reetika Dhawan\, AWC Entrepreneurial College Chief Executive Officer and Vice President of Workforce & Healthcare\, added\, “The new LETA building illuminates a radiant ray of opportunity for our community. By bringing law enforcement training closer to home\, we unlock doors for aspiring officers\, enabling them to pursue their dreams without geographical barriers. This strategic placement not only enhances accessibility\, but also fosters a stronger connection between law enforcement and the community they serve. Through this ray of opportunity\, we empower individuals to become dedicated public servants\, cultivating a brighter and safer future for all.”Event speakers will include a LETA graduate and representatives from partner law enforcement agencies.“Arizona Western College is proud to support law enforcement from across our district and state.
