Imperial Parade of Lights

Join us for the annual Imperial Parade of Lights on Friday December 8, 2023, from 6:00-8:00pm. For more information, please contact the Parks and Recreation office at (760) 355-3316 or email at parks@cityofimperial.org

City of Imperial, the esteemed organizers of the Parade of Lights, is thrilled to announce the
selection of the Grand Marshals for this highly anticipated event. The Imperial Parade of Lights, known for its
grandeur and community spirit, will take place on December 8, 2023 starting at 6:00 p.m. along Imperial Avenue.
After careful consideration and deliberation, the City of Imperial is proud to name Mrs. Judy Ralls and Mr. Tom
Ralls as distinguished Co-Grand Marshals for the 2023 Parade of Lights. As retired teachers and long-time
Imperialites, they are both highly respected figures in the community, and are known for their outstanding
contributions and unwavering commitment to education.
Mrs. Ralls was an educator for over 38 years serving both Ben Hulse Elementary and Imperial High School. She
has also served her community as a PTO President, Girl Scouts Troop Leader, Sunday School Leader, and is still
active as a Vocational Bible School Teacher. Mrs. Ralls has been awarded “Teacher of the Year” by the City of
Imperial and was placed in Imperial Teacher’s Association’s “Teacher’s Hall of Fame”.
Mr. Ralls taught at Frank Wright Middle School for 26 years. He spent the first couple of years as a special
education teacher, and then transferred over to teaching math. His math classes consistently scored high, and he
was instrumental in the school being awarded the State of California’s highest award, where each teacher at Frank
Wright was awarded $20,000. During his time there he also coached flag football, basketball, track and field, and
volleyball. Mr. Ralls was nominated for “Citizen of the Year” and was the very first teacher to be placed in the
“Teacher’s Hall of Fame”, by the Imperial Teacher’s Association.

They have both left a legacy of education here in Imperial as both of their daughters serve as teachers for the
Imperial Unified School District, and have a grandchild currently pursuing a career in education. Volunteering
and giving back to the Imperial community has been an important aspect of their life-time commitment.
As the Co-Grand Marshals, they will lead the parade procession, symbolizing the spirit of unity, celebration, and
community pride. Their presence will undoubtedly enhance the festive atmosphere and create lasting memories
for parade attendees and their families. The 2023 Imperial Parade of Lights promises to be a spectacular event,
featuring an array of vibrant floats, marching bands, community groups, and captivating performances.

The CoGrand Marshal’s participation will undoubtedly add an extra layer of excitement and prestige to this cherished
community tradition.

Lerner & Rowe Injury Attorneys Hosting Free Backpack Giveaway in Imperial County

Lerner & Rowe Injury Attorneys Helps El Centro Youth Prepare for the 2023-2024 School Year By Giving Away 500 FREE Backpacks Stuffed with School Supplies at the Imperial Valley Fairgrounds

Lerner and Rowe Injury Attorneys is pleased to announce that it will host a FREE backpack giveaway to benefit disadvantaged school-aged children living in El Centro, California. Local families are invited to drive through this contactless backpack giveaway on Thursday, July 20, 2023 located at the Imperial Valley Fairgrounds (200 E 2nd Street, Imperial, CA 92251). As quantities are limited, the 500 backpacks will be handed out at 3:00 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. K-12 students must be present in vehicles to receive a backpack.

Families are also asked to be mindful of pedestrians and other vehicles when entering and exiting the parking lot.

“At Lerner and Rowe, our team is immensely grateful for this first–time opportunity to host a free backpack and school supply giveaway in El Centro as a means to extend a helping hand to local families with school-age children. As the average cost of living remains high, we recognize the challenges faced by these families in providing their children with the necessary tools for success,” shared attorney Kevin Rowe.
